Human Bodywork

The word Massage has origins in both French, Arabic and Latin, Massa or Massage which basically means to touch, feel or to knead and to work with the hands and is the manipulation of surface and deeper layers of muscle and connective tissue to enhance body function, it helps aid in the healing process, and promote relaxation and well-being.

Massage involves acting on and manipulating the body with pressure – structured, unstructured, stationary, or moving – tension, motion, or vibration, done manually or with mechanical aids.  Working on any part of the body may include working with muscles, fascia, skin, tendons, ligaments, and joints or other connective tissue.  This can have a dramatic effect on other organs of the body as well as blood vessels and lymphatic vessels within the body.  Our body is an amazing creation and works with a pattern of balance and function and has an inherent ability for movement and change.

Through our many life experiences, we learn through our bodies, every day in every way, whether this be physical, mental or emotional and all of these experiences shape us into who and what we are today.  Our emotional and mental states of mind are all carried in our bodies as well as injuries, inefficient posture and stress.  These factors can influence our self expression and natural movements and have a dramatic effect on normal bodily functioning. Any tension in our body, whether ongoing or immediate has the potential to affect our comfort levels either consciously or unconsciously.

Our bodies seek the most effective and efficient way to move. Using specialised non forceful techniques and working specifically with each individual body, we can access sensory receptors in the body which provide information to our brain, that monitors our body positions, our movements and our levels of comfort and discomfortith the natural movements found in each person, to stimulate awareness and relaxation and correct any imbalance.

Specialised forms of non - invasive body work can be used for general wellbeing or for helping relieve pain and restrictions associated with injuries, postural and structural imbalances and stress-related symptoms.   This can aid in increased flexibility, which in turn can decrease restrictions in the rib cage which can improve depth of breath, increased levels of energy and help us feel more relaxed enabling us to improve sleeping patterns.  All of these things combined leaves us feeling relaxed and happy and makes life worth living for.

Negative emotional and behavourial patterns can be held within the muscular system of our body, stopping us from moving forward in the direction we would like to be going.  A combination of vibrational essences, massage and/or shamanic healing can make all the difference in our well being and our attitude to life.

Mary uses a combination of many techniques learned over the years, and uses essential oils and vibrational essences in which to help you relax and maintain a space of correct equilibrium.
